Autumn in England by Suzy Davies

You held my hand,

as we strolled through autumn leaves,

a symphony of sound

rustled through the trees.

Vapor breath,

made strange, ethereal shapes,

and we stood silent –

we’d made our escape.

Away from the city,

the lights and the trains.

Stood beneath trees,

watched the drizzling rain.

Drop on drop it fell,

a tympani to hear,

Silent

as

my

tears,

remembering the years.
