New Years Eve by Karen Fried

Winter wind blows frosty breath.

Temperature dips, wind whips

stinging cheeks.

Tic Toc Tic Toc

New Year is arriving.

Grand expectations,

Small and large celebrations,

resolutions made, too soon broken.

People twisting and jiving to music

drinking champagne, washing away

unfulfilled wishes and dreams.

Buffets filled with sweet treats

tantalize taste buds

and fill bulging bellies.

Tic toc tic toc

Time has turned,

kisses given and received.

People wrap up, shuffle homeward

hoping for a fresh beginning.
