News from Jane Risdon
I have been given my own author page on Accent Press website with all my information, biography and buy links to my books with them: Only One Woman, Shiver and Wishing on a Star.
They have also designed a mug for me and if anyone would like to purchase one from my publisher:
It is quite beautiful and has a three sided image.
It would be great if your readers dropped over to my author page so that my publishers knows I am not the only visitor there…! I’d really appreciate it to.
A New Road for Malcolm Hollingdrake
Since signing a seven book contract with Bloodhound Books the last two years has been a whirlwind. It was the culmination of a dream. I recall vividly where I was when I received the e-mail informing me that bloodhound would like to offer me a contract. I can remember the place but the sheer excitement can never really be put into words.
I often wonder if publishers are fully aware of the emotional high their new author feels when they send that initial offer. I am sure they have been told many times and maybe they themselves have experienced the same euphoria; I wonder if it is comparable when they manage to sign an author they have been chasing? A Century of Mistakes in Print!
28th January 2019
Author and writing tutor Alex Gazzola’s first two eBooks in the Mistakes Writers Make series – 50 Mistakes Beginner Writers Make and 50 More Mistakes Beginner Writers Make – have today launched in paperback.
Aimed at new writers aspiring to produce non-fiction for magazines, newspapers and the web, the books focus on conveying the essentials of freelance writing through the medium of common errors which beginners may be making.
The 100 mistakes take the reader through all the fundamentals – researching the market, generating ideas, approaching editors, research and interview tips, crafting articles, revision and editing techniques, as well as key matters such as money, contracts and rights.
“I wanted to offer an alternative to most other writing guides, which simply tell writers what to do,” says Alex.
“Instead, the idea behind the Mistakes guides is to show readers the errors they could be making, explain why they’re mistakes, and guide them away from those writing ‘wrongs’ towards writing ‘rights’. Eliminate the wrongs, and success should come.”
Each print book retails on Amazon for £4.99 ($6.49) while the eBooks are available for £2.99 ($3.99).

Undercover: Crime Shorts by Jane Risdon
A collection of crime themed short stories under one cover for the first time written by Jane Risdon.
You never know who is living in the apartment next door – until…
She was so deep in thought she didn’t realise that her foot had hit against the bottom of the door as she pressed against the wood, still debating what to do, if anything. The noise was subtle and she hadn’t heard it, but it had been heard.
An eye watched her through the spy-hole…
Roger A Price: Former Detective and Author of Nemesis and Vengeance says:
Undercover – crime shorts; is a wonderfully satisfying anthology of six short stories which
transcend above the crime fiction genre providing a ripping yarn irrespective of the reader’s

Jane Risdon has cleverly stitched together a mix of tales to suit all
fans of the genre.

BETA Readers Wanted
News from Greg Smith (Author of our Serial Lex Talionis)
For several years now I have been working intermittently on a 2-book historical fiction collection (my first foray into this genre). I have almost completed the first rewrite of Book One and desperately need Beta Readers to look it over for me.
An Australian is given, for his 21st, various items passed on down through the centuries and protected by those relations on his mother’s side. One of these is a diary. At the same time he learns of a sister he never knew he had. Together they set out to research the authenticity of the artifacts, particularly the diary that is purported to belong to a legendary figure long thought to be only fictional. The Aussie discovers he is linked by DNA to this character. At the same time there are those after the treasure thought to also belong to the legend. The ramifications on a country’s history and the followers and believers of the legend stand to be altered forever.
